Blog 11: Lesson 1 Reflection

  1. What are you most proud of in your lesson, and why?
    • I would say the information I talked about was good but I just need to explain a little more. I also think my hook was a good way to get the audience to understand what families go through.
  2. What assessment would you give yourself on your lesson? Explain why you earned that grade using evidence from the component contract.
    • I think I would give myself an AP because I had information but I felt that I did not explain it well. And I also think I did not project my voice as much as I need to. Also make and information transitions smooth, than just changing the subject and talking about more information.
  3. If you could go back, what would you change about your lesson?  How can you use that knowledge to give a better Lesson 2?
    • I would have probably said more of what immigration is and how it works in the system works in the United States. I would also make the information clear and ask question to make sure my audience understood what I said. Just know what information to talk about and make my transitions of information more fluent.

Blog 6 - Advisory Prep

1. What has worked well for you concerning senior project this year?  What has made it a positive experience for you?

  • Getting help from my cousins and seeing the senior project with a different point of view. In other words seeing the senior project as a way to get to know my topic and see if I'm able to be on that field someday.

2. What are you finding difficult concerning senior project?  How can you adapt to make that portion work better for you?  How might the senior team help?

  • Some times finding the right research that goes in depth about my topic and seeing if it could help me learn new things about my topic. Searching for specific information about my topic instead of something simple could make the research a bit easier.

Blog 4 - House Advisory Prep 1

Immigration Law is something that I have always had an interest in and the senior project is a way for me to learn more about it. The senior project is a way for me to explore my topic and to see if I am able to be in this field after high school. In a way the senior project will help me not understand my topic but it will give me a better understanding on how and what you have to do to become a good Lawyer. At the end of senior year I am going to be able to know what I want to do after high school and if Immigration Law is something that I am going to be good at and want to do.

Blog 3- First Interview Preparation

1. Who do you plan to interview? Why?
  • My plan was to interview my mentor but at the moment I don't have a mentor. So I am still looking into getting a mentor and another person in the field to help me through the project.
2. Five questions will be assigned to all seniors to ask. What additional questions do you plan to ask? Ask open-ended questions.
  • Why are you interested in this job/profession?
  • What made you want to study this profession and get a job within it?
    • What makes a good Immigration Lawyer in your opinion?
      • What is the hardest thing this job/profession has made you go through?
      • Did you have any time where you had to really think about your profession?

Blog 1- Senior FInal Lesson/ Interview Reflection

        1.  What three lessons were most helpful for you to see, and why?
The three lessons that were the most helpful for me were Immigration Law presented by Marissa Jasso, Home Health Counseling presented by Anais Bolden, and Teaching Kindergarten Daniela Diaz. The Immigration Law was a helpful lesson because I got to learn a little more about this topic that I did not know and I would like to maybe even pursue this as a career. The Teaching Kindergarten helped me because it taught me that a teacher does not get the enough credit for teaching kid what they need. Home Health Counseling lesson was also help because it showed me that everyone is going through thing and we should not make them feel bad. In the end all three lessons taught me that everyone needs someone there to help them no matter in what situation they are in.
        2. List one thing that you learned about the senior project in interviews that will help you get off to a good start?
Some thing that I learned about the senior project in the interviews was that I need to learn how to manage my time to get everything done by the due date or even sooner. Time management make everything easy because if you focus on the big things first you would not be stressed. To also enjoy senior year and have fun with the project because it could be rewording at the end when its all done.  3. What topic(s) are you considering, and why?
I really would like to do Immigration Law or Just Law because I want to be a lawyer for the people that can not afford an expensive lawyer. I want to help people that needs it and are trying to get their case into the court. The topic just so interesting and I would like to know and get familiar with it.     4. What EQ do you think might be interesting to consider in guiding a project like this? (Please don't worry about any sort of formula...we want this question to come from your genuine interest).
What are the best ways of becoming an effective Lawyer to Immigrantes? 5. What are some ideas you have about finding summer mentorship?
Some things that I would like to do it go to a public hearing of a court case to get more familiar with how a court case works. Then I would just ask around if they know anyone that could help or if they could help.
